Entrants in Fair Lady’s Cover Girl Competition, 1966. As you’ll notice, there is not much, ahem, diversity among the entrants, given that this was the height of the Apartheid era in South Africa. What is also striking is that all the finalists seen here are teenagers. One of them is only 16. Would a mainstream general-interest women’s magazine put a teenager on their cover these days?
